Issuing Your First Token on the XRP Ledger

Issuing your first token

This walks through creating a token on the XRP Ledger with the JustBull Issuer ToolKit Manager. Allow about twenty minutes the first time.

You sign every step yourself in Xaman. JustBull never holds your keys and cannot sign for you.

Before you start

  • A Xaman wallet you control, with a little XRP in it for network reserves
  • Some ZULU to cover the action fees — issuing a token costs 100 ZULU
  • A JustBull Issuer account — sign in with your email and password, then confirm the one-time code

Step 1 — Connect your Xaman wallet

Scan the sign-in QR with the Xaman app to connect the account you will issue from. Nothing is stored on our side. You approve each transaction on your phone as it happens.

Connect one wallet per session. To use a different wallet, disconnect and connect the other one.

Step 2 — Choose a token type

Classic IOU token. The standard XRPL token. You pick a currency code and a supply. This is what most businesses want.

Multi-Purpose Token (MPT, XLS-33). A newer type with configurable flags — Can Lock, Can Clawback, Can Transfer. Choose this if you need to freeze or recover tokens later.

Decide the flags before you issue. Some cannot be changed afterwards.

Step 3 — Configure and sign

Fill in the details, then sign with Xaman. The ToolKit shows the ZULU fee before you commit — 100 for a token, 150 for an MPT — and you confirm it in the app.

Step 4 — Set trust lines for your recipients

Nobody can hold your token until their wallet has a trust line to your issuing address. This catches people out constantly, so deal with it before you try to send anything.

The ToolKit generates a Xaman trust-line QR. Share it, your recipient scans it, and their wallet sets the line against the correct issuer automatically. No typing addresses, no mistakes.

Step 5 — Send

One recipient: send tokens directly.

Many recipients: use Batch Payments to pay a whole list from a single asset. Each address is checked for a trust line before anything is sent, so a missing trust line is caught rather than silently swallowing a payment. A batch costs 1000 ZULU regardless of size.

Someone with no wallet yet: use Send Via Email. They receive a one-time link to supply their XRPL address, then you approve the transfer as a Check they cash themselves. You stay in control right up to the moment you sign.

Step 6 — Manage it

From the dashboard you can see balances and real on-ledger history, claw back or lock MPTs where those flags are enabled, create and manage AMM pools, and track every transaction.

A word on getting it right first time

XRP Ledger transactions cannot be reversed. Before a batch payment or a large send, do one small test transfer and confirm it arrived. It costs a few ZULU and saves a great deal of trouble.
